1. Our commitment
Georg's clients include veterans, homeowners in their 60s, 70s and beyond, and people who prefer German to English. Everyone should be able to read this website and reach him without difficulty. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
2. What we've built in
- Text and background colours meet WCAG AA contrast ratios, including on buttons and links.
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator. The sticky header won't cover what you've tabbed to.
- Pages use proper headings, landmarks and a single main heading, so screen readers can move around quickly.
- Images have text alternatives. Purely decorative images and icons are hidden from screen readers.
- Every form field has a visible label, and errors are described in words, not just colour.
- Animation is gentle and switches off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- The reverse mortgage page uses larger, 20px body text.
- The German page is marked as German, so screen readers use the right pronunciation.
- Pages reflow on phones and at 200% zoom without sideways scrolling, and tap targets are at least 24 pixels.
3. How we test
We check every page with the axe-core automated accessibility scanner. We also test by hand for keyboard use, focus order, zoom and reflow, colour contrast over photos, and target size. The most recent full review found no WCAG 2.2 Level A or AA failures, and we re-check pages whenever they change.
4. Known limitations
Some parts of the site come from other companies, and we can't fully control how accessible they are:
- The booking calendar on the Schedule a call page is provided by Calendly. If it's hard to use, call (808) 357-9791 and Georg will book the time with you.
- The online loan application is run on Kamaʻaina Mortgage Group's application platform. Georg can take your application by phone instead.
5. Browsers and assistive technology
The site is built with standard HTML and works in current versions of Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox on phones and computers. It's designed to work with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS, and with browser zoom and text resizing.
6. Get help or tell us about a problem
If something on this website doesn't work for you, or you need information in another format, please tell us. Include the page and what happened if you can.
- Phone or text: (808) 357-9791
- Email: gthoma@kmgmortgage.com
Georg answers personally, usually within the day, and we'll work on fixing the problem.
